Careers at Dragonfly Dance

Teaching adults is not a side path.
It is a discipline in its own right.
At Dragonfly Dance, we believe adult dancers deserve thoughtful, structured, high-quality teaching, at every stage of life.
Our studio exists to support adults to begin, return to, and sustain a dance practice that is challenging, joyful, and respectful of their bodies and experiences.
This belief shapes everything we do: our syllabus, our teaching method, and the way we work as a team.
A shared method, a shared purpose
Dragonfly operates with a clearly defined teaching method developed specifically for adult dancers. This ensures consistency, safety, and genuine progression, regardless of who is teaching.
Our teachers are not expected to arrive knowing the Dragonfly Method. They are expected to be open to learning it.
We value prior training, experience, and diverse backgrounds. Teaching at Dragonfly means learning how to apply that experience within a shared language, structure, and set of principles — contributing to something cohesive rather than working in isolation.
Teaching here is a pathway
We see teaching as a craft that develops over time.
Some of our teachers arrive with years of experience. Others begin as dancers and grow into confident teachers through mentoring, observation, and guided practice.
What matters most is a commitment to:
-
Adult learning
-
Professional reliability
-
Working within shared standards
-
Being part of a studio community
Who thrives at Dragonfly
Teachers who thrive here are curious, reflective, and invested in their own development. They care about longevity — for dancers and for themselves — and take pride in teaching with clarity, restraint, and intention.
They want to belong to a studio with a point of view, not just a timetable.
Looking ahead
Dragonfly is continuing to grow a teaching team grounded in a shared method, language, and approach to adult dance.
Over time, this commitment allows us to offer dancers continuity and teachers a meaningful professional home.
If this resonates, we invite you to explore our current opportunities below.
How teaching opportunities usually work at Dragonfly
At Dragonfly Dance, teaching opportunities develop over time.
Most teachers begin by covering classes or teaching within a limited scope. This allows both the teacher and the studio to build confidence in alignment, reliability, and teaching approach before regular classes are allocated.
Ongoing teaching opportunities are influenced by:
-
Availability and responsiveness
-
Willingness to cover classes when needed
-
Alignment with the Dragonfly Method and adult pedagogy (andragogy)
-
Professional conduct and communication
Covering classes is not an audition for guaranteed ongoing work. It is the primary way teachers become part of the studio and demonstrate readiness for broader teaching opportunities.
As the studio grows, teachers who are reliable, available, and aligned are more likely to be offered additional or regular classes.
