New membership FAQs

New pricing options. Your questions answered. In this post you'll find answered to frequently asked questions about how the switch to new pricing options works (and why it's even necessary).
Do I have to switch to the new pricing by 1 July?
Our preference is for members to move to one of our new pricing options as soon as practical, and to fill out the Membership Switch form before 30 June.
The new memberships have been designed to solve the problem with Mindbody, where you couldn't manage your own online bookings if you had unpaid classes booked past your current payment cycle. The old membership (which we're called a Legacy Membership) offered you an additional 4 weeks in each payment cycle to use your classes, but while Mindbody has this capacity, what wasn't realised when we signed up to Mindbody was that it would make rescheduling classes a problem.
If you stay on a Legacy Membership, you won't be able to reschedule classes online. If you cancel an enrolled class, Mindbody immediately allocates that class credit to your next payment cycle, meaning you can't use it to book another class in your current cycle.
However, we understand that some members have circumstances that make an immediate switch difficult, such as an upcoming membership hold. In these situations, you can remain on your Legacy Membership for now. When the 12-month term of your Legacy membership is up, you will need to switch to one of the new pricing options.
Why did Dragonfly change the membership system?
Our previous memberships were limited by the way Mindbody manages class credits. If you cancelled a class, the credit was automatically applied to your next payment cycle, making it unavailable to use in your current cycle.
Our new memberships have been designed around 4-week and 13-week validity periods so your class credits remain available during the current membership period. This allows enrolled members to cancel a class and rebook another one themselves, making memberships much more flexible and easier to manage.
If I'm changing to a new membership, should I purchase it myself?
No.
Please complete the Membership Switch Form instead. We'll cancel your existing membership, transfer any applicable concessions, align your new membership with your current payment cycle where possible, and set everything up for you.
If you purchase a new membership yourself, you'll end up with two active memberships.
I'm changing from a membership to a Quarterly Pass. Do I also need to complete a cancellation form?
No.
Simply complete the Membership Switch Form. We'll cancel your existing membership and set up your Quarterly Pass for you.
I'm changing from a membership to casual (drop-in) classes. What do I do?
Complete the Amend Enrolment of Membership Form (this form is for any amendments to enrolments or memberships). Once your membership has finished, you can simply purchase drop-in classes whenever you'd like to attend.
I have a membership hold coming up. Should I switch now?
If you're planning a membership hold during July, August or September, we'll usually wait until you return before switching you to your new membership.
This means you won't use your annual membership hold immediately after starting your new membership.
What do I have to do if I have a concession
If you already had a concession on your membership, you don't have to do anything. When we process your Membership Switch Form, we'll check your current membership and apply any eligible concession to your new membership.
Will my payment date change?
Not for the first payment. We'll align your new membership with your current payment cycle wherever possible, so there is minimal disruption. If you are on a Standard Membership, you'll continue to have your payment deducted every 4 weeks. If you have switched to the Flex Membership, it will be every 13 weeks from the date of the first payment on the new membership.
Can I have a membership and also buy extra classes?
Yes.
You can keep your membership and purchase additional Quarterly Passes or drop-in classes whenever you'd like to dance more. As a member, you'll also receive your 10% member discount on additional class purchases.
I attend more than one class each week but don't want a membership. What are my options?
Choose the option that best suits your budget and how far ahead you'd like to plan. You can either:
purchase multiple Quarterly Passes at once and receive our current multi-pass discount. You get an additional 2% discount on each pass you purchase. The passes must be purchased at the same time to receive the additioal discount.
purchase one Quarterly Pass and buy another when you've used it up.
What happens if I don't choose my new pricing option by 30 June?
Nothing will happen. You will continue on the Legacy Membership until you make a decision or the 12 month membership term is completed. However, you will not be able to reschedule classes via Mindbody. We do not have the capacity to manage any rescheduled classes on your behalf. This will limit the flexibility of your membership (which is the reason why we have created the two new options).
Why isn't there an option to switch to dropin passes on the Membership Switch form?
The Membership Switch form is a temporary form you can use to let us know which pricing option will pay for your enrolled classes. Dancers with a membership or quarterly pass have paid for their classes, and can be enrolled (which protects their place in the class if the class is in high demand). You are not able to be enrolled if dropin classes are your payment method as you have not pre-paid.
